Ankle Sprains: Healing and Preventing Injury -- familydoctor.org: "How do I wrap a sprained ankle?
Start by cutting out a horseshoe-shaped pad from 1 x 4- to 3 x 8-inch-thick felt. Put this pad around the outside of your ankle joint on both sides of your foot, with the open end facing up. "

Sheree sprained her ankle a bit in tonight's game (we lost, which would have been more tolerable if I hadn't served into the net at 3-8 in the final game to 11). Since the swelling didn't double the size of her foot, I haven't been as compassionate as her cries of pain should warrant. I should be more considerate.

One of the other team had an ice pack, which according to the above site and others, is good to apply quickly. I wrapped her ankle twice tonight before reading the above instructions. Once around a ziploc bag, once for compression.

Couldn't quickly find why it's bad to ice for more than 20 min. Oh wait - looks like tissue damage.
