Calcium supplements

Yesterday's X-ray showed what Dr. Laster called a 'bony gamekeeper'. It's actually Gamekeeper's or Skier's thumb. The ligament pulled a bone fragment from the proximal phalanx.

I like the use of the word 'harpoon' - I guess it goes under my skin - at this page Sheree found.

If three weeks pass before surgery, this excellent webpage warns of increased incidence of weakness and pain on pinch grasp.

My lowly CSC insurance doesn't cover one of the best hand surgeons in Southern California, R. Clark Davis, M.D., so I have an appointment tomorrow at 9am with USC's Dr. Stevanovic, and with some luck, a surgery-free weekend!
